The Search For Lulu

WAITRESS tells the story of “Jenna”, an expert pie baker working at a local diner and stuck in a loveless marriage. Her salvation comes in the form of her daughter, “Lulu.” The character of “Lulu” is a sweet and carefree 4 to 5-year-old who appears in the production’s finale scene.

Qualified young girls should be shorter than 4’2 and no older than 5 years and 3 months.  Individual applicants are welcome, as are sets of twins or siblings. Space is limited to the first 70 applicants to sign up.

The “Search for Lulu” will take place on February 20, 2018 at the Music Hall at Fair Park and each audition will last approximately 5 minutes. If possible, parents should bring a current head shot and resume for each child. Headshot, resume and prior acting experience is not required.

Four girls will be chosen to share the role of "Lulu" in DFW.  Two girls will be chosen to perform at the Music Hall at Fair Park in Dallas (March 28-April 8) and two will be chosen to perform at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth (June 19-24).

Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes prior to the audition session time for which you signed up. To sign up, please click here.

The character’s costume is simple denim with a t-shirt, so participants can wear whatever makes them comfortable. The audition will require running; therefore, children should wear appropriate shoes to run in safely.

Please bring a current photo and resume, if available.

Children will be brought into the audition room with Dallas Summer Musicals and Performing Arts Fort Worth staff and parents will be asked to wait outside for the 5-minute audition.

Each audition is expected to take approximately 5 minutes, however it may take some time to get to your child. Please be prepared to stay at the audition for approximately 1-2 hours.

The Music Hall at Fair Park is located at 909 1st Avenue, Dallas, TX 75210. Parking will be available free of charge. Enter through the main lobby of the Music Hall and check in at the Lulu Auditions table.

All casting decisions are made by the company representing WAITRESS.

Your child should be available March 28-April 8 at The Music Hall at Fair Park and June 19-24 at Bass Performance Hall for performances of Waitress. The part appears in the finale so children should be prepared to be at the theater until at least 10:45pm. Additional information (including rehearsal and performance schedules) will be provided to those selected by the company of WAITRESS.

Each actress should be prepared to step in at any of the performances scheduled in Dallas and Fort Worth. Any conflicts should be disclosed at the audition.

The production office will contact the parent or guardian by phone or email within two weeks of the audition. The names will also be announced on the Dallas Summer Musicals and Bass Performance Hall Facebook pages and websites.
