“The Rising Stars of the Metropolitan Opera” offers fans across North America a rare opportunity to experience remarkable young artists on the cusp of extraordinary careers.

For more than 125 years, the Metropolitan Opera has been the artistic home of the greatest singers in the world. But the Met is also the launching pad for the opera stars of the future. Some of today’s leading artists got their first big break by winning the company’s national auditions, by being members of the young artist program, or by catching the attention of Met talent scouts. Stephanie Blythe, Renée Fleming, Susan Graham, Deborah Voigt, Thomas Hampson, and Mariusz Kwiecien are just a few of the major artists to have come through the Met ranks. Another generation of young singers is waiting in the wings to be discovered, and we’ll be among the first to hear them.

With songs by Grammy and Tony-winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper, this joyous musical celebration is about the friendships we discover, and the belief that you can change the world when you change your mind.

Inspired by true events, KINKY BOOTS takes you from a gentlemen's shoe factory in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father's expectations and continue the family business of Price & Sons. With the factory's future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola, a fabulous performer in need of some sturdy new stilettos.

With direction and choreography by two-time Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Legally Blonde, Hairspray) and a book by Broadway legend and four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage Aux Folles), KINKY BOOTS is the winner of six Broadway Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Choreography.

Take a step in the right direction and discover that sometimes the best way to fit in is to stand out. "There is no show hotter than KINKY BOOTS!" - CBS News

An Acoustic Evening with
Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt

Presented by: Performing Arts Fort Worth
Dates / Times:
Monday, 11/02/2015 7:30 PM
Two of America's greatest singer-songwriters, Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt, will come together for an intimate evening of songs and stories.

A Grammy Award-winning singer, composer and actor, Lovett is one of music's most vibrant and iconic performers. The Texan has broadened the definition of American music, fusing elements of country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues in a manner that defies convention. It is no surprise that the Americana Music Association awarded him its inaugural Trailblazer Award.

John Hiatt is a talented singer and guitarist best known for his prolific songwriting. His songs have been covered by musicians from Bonnie Raitt and the Neville Brothers to Iggy Pop and Three Dog Night. With 11 Grammy nominations and two dozen albums to his name, he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and won the Americana Music Association's Lifetime Achievement Award.

An Acoustic Evening with Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt will be a spur-of-the-moment concert, Lovett says. "The show that John and I do is not scripted in any way, and we do not discuss at all what we're going to play," Lovett told Pop Matters. "John always plays first - we go in alphabetical order - and what I play is determined or suggested by what he plays first. And we just go from there. It's very relaxed, a free exchange."

Dates / Times:
Thursday, 11/05/2015 7:30 PM
With sardonic wit and incisive social critiques, David Sedaris has become one of America's pre-eminent humor writers. David Sedaris is the author of "Barrel Fever" and "Holidays on Ice," as well as collections of personal essays, "Naked," "Me Talk Pretty One Day," "Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim," "When You Are Engulfed in Flames," and his most recent book, "Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls," each of which became an immediate bestseller.

He is the author of The New York Times-bestselling collection of fables entitled "Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary."

His original radio pieces can often be heard on This American Life, distributed nationally by Public Radio International and produced by WBEZ.
