Yo-Yo Ma, the most recognized classical musician on the planet, returns to Bass Hall, this time with versatile British pianist Kathryn Stott, in a concert that promises to be a highlight of the season. Mr. Ma has played for five sitting U.S. presidents, including John F. Kennedy (when Ma was only 7) and most recently, President Obama. Of Ms. Stott's long-standing musical partnership with Mr. Ma, it has been written: "Pure musical telepathy: Yo-Yo Ma and Kathryn Stott have it!" The pair's lush Cliburn program will range from Schubert's sublime Arpeggione to an infectious tango by Astor Piazzolla.

This fairytale springs to the stage in Ben Stevenson's magical production. The King and Queen host a magnificent party to christen their beautiful new baby, Princess Aurora. Upset by not being invited to the affair, Carabosse, an evil fairy, curses the child to die on her 16th birthday when pricked by a needle. The Lilac Fairy uses her powers to save Princess Aurora and alters the curse so that she sleeps for 100 years, only to be awakened by a kiss from the Prince. Lavish sets transform the stage with fairytale wonder as music by Tchaikovsky enraptures the audience and invites us all to join in the story of The Sleeping Beauty and her prince.

The University of North Texas' Three O'Clock Lab Band, under the baton of Brad Leali, pays musical homage to one of the greatest hard-bop saxophone players in jazz, Texan David "Fathead" Newman. Newman, who passed away in 2009, spent more than a decade performing with Ray Charles; he also toured and/or recorded with Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin and B.B. King, among dozens of others. He also enjoyed a lengthy solo career, having released 38 solo albums.

The featured guest will be noted saxophonist Frank Wess, who performed with jazz legend Count Basie for more than a decade. Guest of honor will be vocalist Karen Newman.

BODYART

Founded in 2005 by Texas Christian University graduate Leslie Scott, BODYART is a New York City-based dance company that creates original works of theater using both human movement and technological bells and whistles. The company collaborates with composers, video artists and designers to create thought-provoking and entertaining multimedia shows.

Under the direction of Scott, the eight-member company will perform LIMBO, a collaborative effort among Scott, video installation artist Patrick Lovejoy and composer Charles Seich. LIMBO is a multimedia dance work exploring the space between geographical, emotional and metaphysical extremes. The work, which premiered at the Ailey Citigroup Theatre in 2009, uses motion capture technology, dance, film and a music score to create an ever-shifting performance.
