Betty Buckley, Ghostlight
Featuring Christian Jacob

Presented by: Performing Arts Fort Worth
Performance to be held at McDavid Studio
Dates / Times:
Saturday, 03/28/2015 8:00 PM
Saturday, 03/28/2015 5:30 PM
Information:
Betty Buckley and pianist Christian Jacob will bring to McDavid Studio for two shows, in her hometown of Fort Worth, a haunting and timeless evening of music from her new album GHOSTLIGHT.

The album was recently selected by USA Today as the No. 2 pick of the Top Five Albums of 2014.

The new recording reunites her with longtime friend and producer T Bone Burnett. Buckley and Burnett began their musical collaboration when both were 19 years old, living in Fort Worth.

Broadway Legend Buckley has starred in ten Broadway shows including 1776, Cats and Sunset Boulevard and has been called "The Voice of Broadway". She is one of most respected and legendary leading ladies of theater, television and film.

Multi-Grammy-winning producer Burnett has combined his unique artistic sensibilities into massively popular musical projects such as the soundtracks to the films O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Walk the Line and Crazy Heart, and the television series Nashville.

"BETTY BUCKLEY is about finding her own soul in the soul of a song and adding to it in a way that makes it her own while making it irresistible to us. She is the opposite of a belter: she is, instead, an artist of restraint. We are disarmed in her presence. I'm neither exaggerating nor making this up, as you will find listening to Ghostlight surely her most accomplished album to date.
- Jeremy Gerard

BETTY BUCKLEY just released an album, Ghostlight, a collaboration with the great producer T Bone Burnett, an old friend from Texas, that captures more dimensions of her complex musical personality than anything she has recorded before. Broadway standards (Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered) sit comfortably beside gems by Mary Chapin Carpenter (Where Time Stands Still), Abbey Lincoln (Throw It Away) and Tom Waits (Take It With Me When I Go) whose lyrics cut to the bone.

In uncovering the truths in song lyrics, Ms. Buckley might be described as a heart surgeon." - Stephen Holden, The New York Times
